I recently brought an injured duck to Cary Street Vet and they were wonderful! I did not have the money for the services and had to wait for a credit card to come in the mail and they were very patient with me and went an entire week without payment so I could wait for the card to come in the mail. They kept the duck over night and kept me updated on his health and genuinely seemed to care. They saw me as a walk in also as I couldnt find anywhere else that would take injured wildlife and began treating him very quickly.
DO NOT GO!!!! Went in for just an examination. The vet tech said my puppy needed all of these shots. She just got five shots a week ago, so I questioned it and asked for a chart of what shots were needed and when. She got attitude with me and I insisted on seeing the Vet as the tech was about to put medicine in her mouth. She took the dog with her and when she came back my puppy was crying. I asked what had happened and they said just a nail trimming and she would have to ask what shots were given. I quickly got upset since they did not ask my permission to do anything with the dog. I left without paying and as I see on here, this is normal.
I've taken my dog to Cary Street Vet 3 times since moving to Richmond. The first time they gave her a shot I didn't ask for and once I confronted them they gave me my money back. The second time I went was after she woke up having trouble breathing for about a minute. I called the vet telling them what happened and they said to bring her in. The vet took a quick look at her, said it was a simple reverse sneeze and told us to get benadryl... that cost $80. Just today we took her to get a rabies shot, kennel cough vaccine, and a proheart injection. They gave her 2 extra shots without asking my permission and swear up and down they did. I planned on paying $150 for this appointment and ended up paying $221... NEVER GOING BACK.
Love this place. Staff and doctors are well trained and compassionate
Will definitely return! I left a message for them early in the morning (6am) and they called me within 3 minutes of when they opened. They gave me the first available appt that day. Everyone was very nice, including the receptionist, nurses, and the Doc. Doctor was very honest and upfront. She provided options and included details as well as prices.
