The first time I went to this vet, the technician tried to get me to stay in the waiting room while she took my dog in the back. I told her there was no way I was separating myself from my dog, as he is very nervous at the vet (like most dogs) and I want to see what's being done to him. Still, even though she did take me to a back room, she ended up taking my dog away for some of the treatments and I was forced to stay in the room alone without an explanation - so weird! This makes me extremely uncomfortable and I've never been to a vet who does this. Also, I felt like the receptionist was blunt and impolite, almost like she was insinuating I was abusing my dog when I turned down some of the vaccines that I felt my dog didn't need. She kept talking over me and spewing statistics at me about why my dog needed all these shots. But the worst thing about this place is their ridiculous policy on buying my dog's meds (heartworm and flea & tick prevention) through 1800-PetMeds. They absolutely made it as hard as possible for me to get my prescription to 1800-PetMeds! I ended up having to pay to have the vet hand write a prescription, which I then had to physically mail to 1800-PetMeds, and I am now waiting on them to finally mail me my meds. Even though it would've been so much easier to buy my meds through the vet, I ended up jumping through all their ridiculous hoops just because I don't want to give them any more of my money. Needless to say, I will be going to a different vet next time.

I was the owner of Menchi, the guinea pig who died after being treated by Coleman of North Roanoke Veterinary Hospital. Do a search on the web of her name and you will find the minutes from a trial where she was answering for mistreatment of my pet and 3 others. And this was not her first disciplinary hearing. She was fined and forced to take an exotic animals course after the hearing. It is my opinion she should no longer be allowed to practice. Not once did she ever take any responsibility for what happened. In fact, she did not ever come to the preliminary hearing held in Roanoke. There are many vets in Roanoke. Please, for the sake of your pet’s health, your piece of mind and the sanctity of Vets everywhere, choose someone else. You may very well regret it if you do not. I do.

Very friendly staff. I take my chesapeake retriever and chiuaua there. They have always been kind. Last year my chiuaua had to have surgery to remove her eye. They were so kind and passionate. She healed well. She did end up having an allergic reaction to the medication. However, she was given steriods because benadryl was not working. She has done excetionally well! Thanks to the staff there it was a little easier to deal with the situation!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! The receptionist was very rude to me and insisted I get a vaccine for my cat that no other vet in VA has declared mandatory. The vet tech and receptionist rolled their eyes at me and whispered while I called my previous vet to confer and found out the vaccine wasn't even necessary! They were angry I had called a different vet for a second opinion! Horrible staff, horrible service. I will never recommend them to anyone!

When I got my first dog, I left her in the hands of this clinic for a weekend while I was out of town. My dog was very well housebroken and ALWAYS whined in case she need to go out or if someone had forgotten to take her out at her usual time. When my husband went to pick up my dog, he said she was clamoring for the door desperately trying to get outside to urniate and had pools of her own waste all over the kennel. We usually only need to take her out once in the morning and once in the evening, and she was clearly a wreck! I avoided vet-based kennels for a long time after that... I wonder if they even fed her!
