Decided to give this place a try the last time I had to go out of town for work. With two dogs boarding anywhere in Hampton Roads is pretty expensive. I could not afford my usual kennel with two dogs and after searching I found Bayside, which is on the way to airport for me, who gives discounts for dogs sharing a kennel. I did not tour the facility but I walked around the building as I arrived before they opened. You could see the outside portion of the kennels and where they have an outdoor play area for daycare dogs. I was pleased with how it looked and when I picked up my dogs they were just as I left them but super excited to see me. I'd recommend this place and have when I see people asking about a kennel.

I read the reviews and wanted to trust that this was an okay place, WRONG! I couldn't go back and look at the kennels "they were renovating and it wasn't open to the public at the time" - it sounded reasonable so I let my dog stay there anyway. When we picked him up he was caked with poop, on his butt, down the backs of his legs and on his side, caked in his paws - it was more than one day of dirty kennel kind of poop. I looked at the girl in disbelief, she said "Oh, he's a little dirty, let me wash that off" She took him in the bath room and when he came back he was cleaner but still smelt of poop. I felt so bad for my dog, he's my baby as most of our dogs are to each of us - don't they realize that? Would you let your kid sit in poop for days? Never again!! Do yourself a favor and have a friend take care of your pet, not this place!!

Would NOT recommend - took my dog for grooming - the groomer skinned him badly under both eyes - he then contacted conjunctivitis (per the internet can come from foreign body in eye or bacteria on grooming tools) which drained into the skinned areas causing infection, inflammation and redness. Was going to take him to my vet but they talked me into seeing the Bayside Kennels vet (which I have since found out he owns the kennels) because there would be no charge if it was related to grooming. No surprise - vet said he couldn't say for sure and charged me for office visit and medicine. What a scam. If you love your pets - don't take them here. By the way - the vet never gave me anything for pain and infection - had to get that from my own vet. THEY DIDN'T CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blew me off. Very poor business practices. They would still have me as a customer if they had done the right thing.

The only place I will take my dog! I have a 15 year old dalmatian. They are always friendly and I feel like they genuinely care about how she is doing. I have only been in the area 1 year and have tried 3 other kennels and have not been as satisfied as I have been with them. I highly recommend them!

We have been taking our dogs to Bayside Kennels for a while now and of all the kennels we have left our dogs at, they are the best. The staff is extremely kind and courteous. When we first visited, they offered to take us back and show us where our pups would be staying. They all have several medications each, and the staff has never had a problem following our (sometimes somewhat crazy) instructions. A few days ago, my wife had a baby and I dropped the dogs off without notice. They were missing shots, missing medications, and unannounced - and the staff said no problem! They took care of everything. It is not the cheapest kennel around - but you get what you pay for and more. Highly recommended to all!
