It was my first time taking my own pet to see a vet. Of course I've had others pets but they belong to my parents, but I somewhat knew what to expect from vets in general. The place overall was great. Fast, polite, and caring service. But be warned, if your dog bites playfully or as a warning of not comfortable, if you have the same doc I did your dog will get punched in the nose... just warning...
I move around a lot and am heavily involved with cat rescue. I also own a dog for 4 years and have recently acquired two kittens and a puppy. I found Salty Paws after we adopted two kittens. The staff was very friendly both on the phone and in person. The vet attending during my first visit was cordial, she seemed very invested in the kittens' health and gave good advice on how to control their temperaments. The vet assistant seemed inexperienced, but friendly. I was a little sticker shocked at my $187 vet bill. Especially after finding out the kittens were only 5 weeks old and needed to come back in 3 weeks for another check up and shots. The vet attending my second visit was much more animated and engaging, she even gave one kitten a free ear mite exam. Her assistant was slightly overbearing, she kept talking over the vet and myself, but I could tell she really cared about animals. Salty Paws also helped us out after we adopted a puppy with doctored paperwork. The staff immediately invited us to bring in the dog so they could inspect and verify its breed free of charge. The hospital's atmosphere is clean and charming with expensive benches and comical signs hanging along the walls. They sell a multitude of personalized pet decals from local vendors. The building itself is very kept up and the grounds are immaculate, set back from the highway surrounded by woods. This place is worth the extra expense, appointments are easy to schedule, the staff is committed and friendly. Definitely one of the better places I've seen.
We took our puppy to this clinic for the first time yesterday. The staff was very welcoming and courteous, and the clinic was quite clean. As my wife said, "The staff seemed like they never had a bad day in their lives." Everyone just seemed generally cheerful. The wait was very short, and Dr. Blessing was patient with all of our questions and answered every one of them. The exam was thorough, and not expensive at all. We even got a "new puppy packet" with a DVD, a dose of Frontline, and tons of great information. Overall, we are extremely pleased with our first Salty Paws experience and have no reservations about returning to them for future exams and needs.
Cat doctor (one in particular) can be abrasive.
