I am so very thankful for Dr Williams and his fantastic staff. I have been bringing my Westie Lucy in there for about a year now. From exams and medications, to teeth cleanings and shots, they have affordable prices and a caring staff. I rest easy knowing she is in their care. Thank You!!!!
I first went to Dollar wise to have my dog vaccinated in 2013. My experience was positive, the staff was friendly and the price was right. We went back this morning for another round of vaccinations and the staff were even friendlier than I remember. The vet tech was very friendly and sweet with my year and a half old black lab girl. My dog was happy the whole time and the vaccinations were quick and my dog hardly noticed them as the vet tech and I were distracting her and holding her. The head vet was very friendly with my dog too. He came in with a positive attitude and a smile and my dog was friendly back and not scared of him at all. The only negative here was some moron who had his dog on an 8 foot lead in the lobby and kept letting his dog get within sniffing distance of my dog as I was trying to pay for the services and had my dog on a 4 foot leash and right between my feet. I thought it was common sense if you're at a vet office to not let the dogs interact as you don't know why my dog is there and I don't know why your dog is there. I will definitely come back for vaccinations!
Dollar Wise Animal Clinic has restored my faith in Walk-In Animal Clinics. The Vet, Techs, Receptionist were fantastic. They were all very caring, compassionate, professional. My almost 13 yr old beloved dog has hip issues & has been doing really well with medication. I was in B'ham this weekend & her symptoms worsened. I had to put her litter mate down last month & the thought of having to lose my Miss Molly now was almost unbearable. The Vet did an examination & pain management. The Tech sat with me while I came to terms with my worse fear. She stayed with Molly while I discussed the costs with the receptionist. My dog was put down in a calm compassionate manner. (I wish I had been in town for my other dog to have experienced such compassion). I just can't say enough how awesome they were in such a difficult time- and I am sure the same experience will carry over on any future visits. Thank You again Dollar Wise Animal Clinic!!!!! (and side note: They really do have the best rates)
I originally liked this guy, but my experiences this week changed my mind. My dog had a hematoma in his ear, and the vet recommended a minor procedure that would both take down the swelling and prevent the hematoma from growing back. He told us it was "a suture," and that it wouldn't take long. We were assured they would call us when he was ready to be picked up. WE had to call the office ten minutes before closing and were told he had been ready. So, we hurried to go get him, and were greeted with a dog with an entirely reconstructed ear. He used stitches that need to be removed, not disolvable ones, which seem to be an issue with him as other reviews have stated this. He gave us prescription antibiotics that need to be RUBBED ON the stitched area, which my dog will not let us touch. We went back to the vet today (the surgery was yesterday) because his ear is supposed to be taped back and my dog shook it loose, and he told us to put our dog on the table. We explained we weren't sure we could as he was very upset and he's strong, and he looked at us dead-pan and said "it's your dog." He also said we should put a muzzle on him next time before he came, even though my dog has a huge cone on and stitches in his ear. He gave us sedatives so we could apply the medicine and told us to "give him one, wait an hour, and give him another half if he doesn't get groggy." We gave him just the one. It has been almost twelve hours and my dog still cannot walk or stand up. I feel like the next half would have killed him. He's shaking and seems to be having trouble breathing as he gasps at times for about thirty second intervals. We're strongly considering taking him to the local emergency vet as it's well past midnight. I'd also like to state that this "dollar wise" clinic will have us spending well more than what we would have paid at a regular vet if we need to make this emergency visit, and as a family of three with currently NO INCOME and only savings, it's a hard hit. Do not recommend for anything other than shots, if that. God knows he might give your dog the wrong one at this point. EDIT: After googling, he told us to overdose our dog. The recommend dose of the sedative is .25 mg - 1 mg per pound. Each pill is 25 mgs. My dog is not 25 pounds. Thank God we didn't give him the other half.
