This is the best exotic vet I have ever been to by far. The place is clean, professional and friendly. I was astonished at how low cost it was. I brought my prairie dog in, rather reluctantly after a not-so-good experience with a different vet in Tacoma. Unlike the other vet, this one obviously knew how to handle the animal and knew what she was talking about. Unfortunately his diagnosis was not good, but the situation was explained to me with compassion and also with directness and honesty, which I appreciated. I never felt rushed and all my questions were answered fully. During my second trip my car broke down, 100+ miles from home. The entire staff went out of their way to help me get back on the road, the sort of neighborly-ness rarely encountered these days. It was worth every penny in gas and car repairs to be confident my little guy got the best possible care. I would not hesitate to do it again.

Our second Mini-Holland Male Lop Rabbit, at 9-months needed to be neutered. Aerowood Vet Clinic in Eastgate no longer had a qualified vet that could treat small/exotic animals. We were referred to Avian & Exotic Animal Medical Center in Kirkland and had an appointment with Dr. Cathy Johnson-Delaney. She was not only knowledge about small animals-especially rabbits, but reassured us about this operation and aftercare. Dr. Johnson-Delaney genuinely cares for pets. Her staff is also knowledgeable and friendly toward pet parents. We wouldn’t take our rabbit anywhere else. I would recommend Avian & Exotic Animal Medical Center to those needing expertise of small pets.

I've been working with one particular species of rodent, the prairie dog, for over 17 years. Over this period of time, I've interacted with numerous vets throughout the country and abroad about different aspects of the prairie dog's health in captive settings. During this time, I've only encountered about five extraordinary veterinarians that truly stand above the rest when it comes to working with prairie dogs. Dr. Johnson-Delaney is truly a standout in the field of exotic medicine. Not only is she on the leading edge in continued research and education about many exotic species, but her quest for knowledge never ceases which puts her leaps above the rest. She is open, receptive, and respectful of what an owner experiences and expresses about their animal while offering expertise that can't be found in most practices. You'll learn a great deal about your animal, it will receive extraordinary care, all for a reasonable cost for what you receive. No office will be entirely perfect all the time as I saw in another review below, but out of hundreds of clinics that I've worked with in my consulting, I'd recommend them highly to anyone. They are also receptive to consulting with other veterinarians in other clinics to help animals in other locations. I'm grateful to know that she's here and even more fortunate that she's in my own state! She's provided exceptional care and expertise to my own pets and I'm forever in her debt.

I have gone to Dr. Johnson-Delaney for many, many years, and have never seen a vet as dedicated and knowledgable as her. She is the best exotic vet that I have ever worked with. Costs are quite reasonable, and I've never been surprised by the charges. Costs are in line or below other area exotic vets. Dr. Johnson-Delaney is extermely knowledgable. I've owned ferrets and worked to learn constantly. I always learn new and useful information when I go into this office. I will visit other exotic vets if I need to, but if I have the choice I will always trust my pets to her care.

I learned more in 30 minutes about bird care, than a book and a week of searching the internet has given me! As a new parent of a budgie, I thought I had done sufficient homework, but Dr. Johnson-Delaney has a great understanding of birds and a wonderful teaching ability. Ditto on what the ferret person below wrote, except you can add birds to that, as well. Highly recommend!!
