We have taken our two cats here several times over the last decade for critical issues and they are beyond exemplary. Both doctors and staff. Dedicated professionals, on point, with care and compassion in their hearts. Though our visits there have been some of the most stressful moments in our lives, they have been the best vet experiences we have had, leaving their facility feeling comfortable and grateful. They are definitely on your side, they really genuinely care... they aren't doing it for the money. They aren't building a client base to push immunizations and prescription diets, etc.. They have a calling for this kind of work, and they do it exceptionally well.

if you want to kill your pet bring him/her to Seattle Veterinary Specialist. I called SVS to make an appointment to get an ultrasound for my dog. I asked if they had the equipment and what kind of experience their radiologist has. She confirmed that they had the equipment but could not tell me how experienced their radiologist has. after explaining to the receptionis why this was needed and then again to a tech I was told that if i get there soon that they could help me out right away. after entering the busy SVS office and getting through the line, i explained, who I was and why I was there. Nobody knew what I was talking about, the person I spoke with was now out of the office. it was 11am. They offered to admit him on an emergency basis at an extra charge. While standing in line and overhearing why all the people and dogs were here, 90% of what I heard was cancer, chemo treatments and i remember thinking that they were going to tell me that my dog had cancer too. I was adamant about not paying this extra charge, finally the manager came out and basically said that since I did not have an appointment that i needed to pay the additional $107 fee and the additional fee entitled my dog to a complete exam, diagnosis and treatment plan. I agreed. 40min later a girl came in and took his temperature and had me put him on a scale. that was the extent of the "COMPLETE EXAM". an hour later another girl came to get him for the ultrasound. i asked if I could be with him while the ultrasound was done so I could see what was going on. I was told that they do not allow owners to be present.....WTF? they took my dog, shaved his belly, did the ultrasound and was back in 10min. Same girl brought him back and said everything went well and the doctor would be out shortly to talk about what they found. an hour later, the same girl came out and told me that she was now the doctor, that she was present during the ultrasound and that they did not know what was going on "THE DIAGNOSIS", she said she THOUGHT that he had some internal bleeding and most likely it was, you guessed it, CANCER and that if i took him home it would be on a hospice basis. Then she left the room and said she would be right back. I waited for an hour, requested with reception that "doc" come back and help me understand this better. When she returned, I was informed that they could do a CT scan for an additional 1000, every question that was asked, she had no answer. Putting him down was the best "TREATMENT PLAN" they could come up with. I ended up deciding to put my dog to sleep that day. I felt hopeless that I would be able to get competent help for him + I was now out of funds to take him someplace else. These so called Veterinary specialists are more concerned that you are properly seated in their streamlined sales cycle than they are with practicing medicine. I honestly don't even think they did an ultra sound, that would not let me watch, nor did the have anything to show me. They did no blood work, nothing. I regret the decision to use SVS's service. I can only hope that the staff of SVS experiences the same treatment they provide when they need it.

SVS took excellent care of our beloved Big Puppy! They were kind and patient. They were very good at explaining his illness and our options. Big Puppy in now in Big Dog Heaven. We are still very thankful for the love and care shown to us and our loving Big Puppy.

This is probably the most professional respectable vet service in Seattle. I had to take my pug Won ton in as he has bronchitis and the care he received was outstanding. While the hospital is expensive it is well worth it. We were treated by Dr. Vaughn who was just incredible - thorough, kind, and really just a good respectable doctor. If I could give this place 10 stars I would.

My regular vet referred me to SVS because my dog had epilepsy and there was only so much care a general vet can provide. We did a 30-minute consultation with the neurologist and he explained everything that our dog could possibly have to us in great detail. Instead of constantly having to see the neurologist, we would do the 6-month check-ups with our regular vet and the neurologist would get the results as well. Also, all the medication changes were done over email, versus having to take a disoriented dog into see the neurologist to alter the medication. We used this method or correspondence for about 4 years and it was extremely effective. About 8 months ago our dog seized multiple times and we had to take him in because his seizures weren't stopping. At the time, my family was about to go on vacation. In the past, our dog had gotten stressed when we left him at the pet hotel, so we usually just had people check-in on him at home while we were away. When I discussed what his care plans were while we were away, the ER doctor expressed concern and suggested that we have our dog stay at SVS and when it came to concerns of cost, he assured us that they would try to keep it as cost-effective as possible by making it a blend between hospitalization and boarding. Over the course of the 2 weeks that my dog was at SVS, he had multiple seizures and the SVS doctors did everything in their power to keep my dog alive. Due to those doctors, I was given 5 more months with my dog before he passed away. When my dog did pass away, we brought him to SVS. The ER workers could see how torn up my family was from losing our almost 8-year old dog and one of the workers offered to have an imprint of his paw made before he would be cremated. I even received cards from my dog's neurologist and the general staff at SVS offering their condolences and talking about the kind of personality my dog had and how he would never be forgotten. I am forever thankful to the SVS staff for going above and beyond. My regular vet at Banfield would never have done half the things SVS has done for my family.
