If I could give zero stars, I would. I boarded my 2 dogs (a lab and an English bulldog) there once and had a horrible experience. Please read (I know it's long but I can't believe the level of customer service) Downtown dog lounge actively discriminates against bull breeds. I have a non-aggressive English bulldog. I have actively socialized him since he was a puppy (living in a large dog friendly apartment building, going to doggie day care in our previous home in Nebraska, frequenting dog parks several times per week). They screen all dogs, which is fine by me. I'm glad they attempt to protect all dogs safety. However, after a special screening with one of their dog trainers (because my dog is a bullie-breed), he passed with flying colors and was gushed over by the staff that day. After that, I felt safe, confident, and happy to leave my 1 year old puppy with them when I had to travel for work. I did an early drop off, which I scheduled several days in advanced. They door was not unlocked at the time scheduled. I excused this because I understand that it was 5:30 AM. I myself am not on top of my game that early in the morning. At the airport, I decided to check in on my dogs via their webcam. They let my lab out with the other dogs but I was not seeing my bulldog. I watched for 45 minutes. Finally he was brought out of the kennel by one of their handlers for 3 minutes and put back in. I was shocked and appalled by this short amount of time. He was not aggressive. He was not any rougher than any of the other dogs. Yet he was punished, presumably, because he was a bullie breed. I was so disturbed, I paid for the internet on my flight and watched for the entirety of a 5 hour flight. My dog was given 10 minutes total of play time and spent the rest of the time in a kennel watching the other dogs play. Need I continue? I wrote 2 emails in the flight inquiring what the problem was because I couldn't tell from the video feed. I received no response so I called when my flight landed. I was told some handlers are more comfortable with certain breeds. I was assured he would get more play time from that point forward. The next day I made sure to watch the morning session. My dog received no more play time. I called again in the morning and was blown off by a staff member. During the mid-day break I called yet again and was put through to the General Manager. David, the General Manager, was down right rude and flat out lied. I was told my dog was the problem. He was mounting other dogs. I had never seen him mount a dog in person nor had I seen it on the camera. He insisted that the webcam feed was not clear enough for me to see. Really? I cannot tell if a dog is mounting another? Am I blind or just stupid? When I cut him off once, he asked "if I would like to let him finish". I thought I was the customer and needed to defend my dog. He later proceeded to say that this was not the right day care for my dogs. Apparently it's an exclusive club that bulldogs are not welcome to and apparently that despite my dog being screened as gentle and "one of the best bulldogs they have worked with in a long time", DownTown Dog Lounge will perpetuate false pretenses that they are aggressive. Please do not take your dog to these rude, ignorant people.

We take our puggle here every time we go out of town and don't have a friend or family member to watch over him. He loves the social time with the other dogs, so much so that he's exhausted every time he comes home. I recommend getting the wash-n-go service before you pick up your dog because they often carry home the smell of the kennel with them. The staff is friendly and there is a webcam in most rooms of the facility so you can always check-in on your dog to see how they are doing throughout the day.

My spaniel had a great day visiting the Urban Dog Lounge and came home tired and happy. Apparently she found the large dog play area a little overwhelming but they put her with the smaller dogs and apparently that went much better. We will go back!

Horrible customer service, mediocre grooming, premium prices. I own a Maltese, so I'm accustomed to paying $70+ for full service grooming. I'm also accustomed to *far* better service than what my dog has gotten here. The haircuts are mediocre; my dog frequently has "chunky" areas on his chest and hindquarters. His ears are almost always cut crooked-- I think they pull the ears back and cut across in a straight line, so that when the ear falls naturally the cut is uneven and awkward looking. The nail dremel is GREAT-- I love being able to have his nails cut without the extra sharp edges that standard nail trimmers leave, but despite asking specifically for them to make sure they cut the dewclaws every time I brought him in for almost a year, I noticed my dog limping, and then discovered that they had not once ever trimmed them, and the dewclaws had grown around in a circle and one had punctured his leg :( They don't expel anal glands properly, either-- I noticed butt-dragging a couple hours after I'd brought my dog home, and found that his glands were very, very full. Finally, if your appointment isn't for 9am, don't expect to see your dog again until 5 or 6pm. Today was the last straw: after four hours, I needed to pick him up because I had dinner plans-- they said he was bathed and dried, but it still took them half an hour to bring my dog out, AND they charged me for the appointment! After a year of coming here, I am finally fed up enough that from now on, I will drive an hour and pay a bridge toll to get my dog groomed on the Eastside.
