We go here because it's not too expensive and you don't need an appointment. Also, we can walk and we don't have a car. It's usually a long wait, but that in and of itself isn't a problem. I think the care is fine, although always a bit rushed. I was very unhappy with the new place they FINALLY moved into. Everyone has been waiting, it seems like more than a year, for them to open the new building. Well, whoever designed it did not have animals in mind -- which makes you wonder, since it's a vet office/hospital. The front door slams and makes a lot of noise which will upset any animal who is nervous. The waiting area is fancy and all done in stone -- nice for a lobby, but slippery for dogs and very, very noisy also. It's like an echo chamber. They also have very little seating. If I could get there easily, I would definitely go to Lien Animal Clinic instead. I've been there a few times and they have separate areas for dogs and cats, which is thoughtful. They doctors are lovely. But they are more expensive and again, not close by.

I am impressed. My young dog was given 48 hours live. Dr Goraya came to the office to meet me at 10 pm, did the hysterectomy and called me at 1:20 am to tell me Molly was fine. My dog instantly liked him and walked off as if they were pals for some time. The ODD thing is she didn't even look back for me. Yes, I paid $1800. and declined when asked to pay for a follow-up blood test even after we discussed that the amount included everything. (taxes and follow-up). I believe we both forgot at the last follow up appointment that he agreed the price...., "includes everything". I may follow up on that later. Overall, I feel assured of their sincere care and love for animals that I will return for my future pet care. We are happy to have our Molly home and well. Oh, I experienced their staff to be down to earth, friendly and good with dogs too. Highly recommended Veterinarian!

I did not have a good experience here at all. The front desk staff was AWESOME, but I did not feel comfortable with the actual Doctors. I brought my cat here because he had been throwing up and I was worried about him. The first Vet that we saw had no personality and I could hardly understand what he was saying. He said the x-rays were only going to take about 45 minutes and we ended up being there for over 5 HOURS! We finally got called back to discuss the x-rays and it was with a new vet.. she didn't look me in the eyes and was kind of rude when I told her we were both full times students and really couldn't afford a bunch of expensive treatment that she was suggesting. We ended up getting a hydration shot and nausea shot and he is just fine now. We originally came to this hospital because the first exam is free and like I said, we are on a tight budget. However, that is the only price cut. We ended up spending 150$ by the time we left but if we had went through with all of their "suggestions", we would have spent well over a grand... I would not suggest this place to anyone unless it was your only option.

I took my 3 mo old husky in for a big abscess between her shoulders, at least that's what the vet said just staring down at her as the "professional exam" part. Never took a good look but she automatically said the surgery would cost between $400-$500. When I told her I only had $40 cash she rudely said then I should sell my puppy or find a rescue organization for her since I couldn't afford to care for my puppy. I told her she was my therapy dog & that I was on SSD so my income was limited but was making sure shots utd & was microchipped. I just couldn't afford pet insurance yet. Only response was her basically looking down her nose at me as she considered me inferior. I pretty much knew it was going to be a bad experience when she came at my puppy with a fast open hand & my pup backed up to wall then snapped when she didn't stop. Invoice doesn't have her name but I don't know how she can even be considered a vet as she has no knowledge on how to approach a dog or any animal that is hurt. The receptionist was very pleasant and that is the only positive experience with this emergency hospital.

We've had a couple good experiences at South Seattle Vet but mostly bad and will not be going back again. I can't tell you how many times we've taken our dogs in for shots and they had a temp around 102.5 because they were nervous. Every time, they have tried to talk us into leaving them for IV fluids and one even suggested we should have blood work done. The IV fluids and overnight hospital stay is $500. And, while waiting in the lobby, we have seen so many people leave their dogs overnight for IV fluids and couldn't help but wonder how often they were really necessary. Tonight, one of our dogs ingested cocoa powder. Ran him to South Seattle Vet and the vet refused to induce vomiting unless we were going to leave him overnight for IV fluids. Then, my husband was upset while trying to figure out what to do and she told us she was refusing to treat him and left the room. Any vet who can refuse to induce vomiting, which could save our dog's life, should find another line of work. We took him to another emergency vet who immediately took him back to induce vomiting. They gave him charcoal and hydrated him a bit and sent him home. We will definitely be going to ACCESS Emergency Veterinary Hospital from now on rather than South Seattle Vet. By the way, being that the last dog we left there overnight to get IV fluids died while he was there, can you blame us for not feeling comfortable leaving another dog there overnight? I'd prefer to give this vet less than 1 star but it's the lowest rating I can give them.
