I love Dr. Amsler at the Vancouver mall location. She is very compassionate with my senior dog and with me. She spends all the time I need with me, never rushing me and always answering my questions. I wish I would have found her earlier. Thank you Dr. Amsler for all you do. The girls at the front are very friendly and assist with anything you need whether by phone or in person. I'd give a lot more stars if I could.
BE WARY OF CLAVAMOX AND INCOMPETENT VETERINARIANS! {long story short: Our dog was prescribed a medication/Clavamox that made him SICKER! Not once did the "professionals" at Banfield suggest a different medication. His health deteriorated because of the meds and the lack of competent vets. Banfield offered to put our dog down. They referred us to Columbia River Veterinary Specialist, the insisted we put our dog down. Then WE figured out (by accident) that it was the meds...(ya-know, regular folk - we don't have degrees in pet medicine}. We adopted our dog 05/26/2014. We received warning that our dog may have been exposed to Kennel Cough as he was shipped from Hawaii humane society to Washington State. After two days of owning our dog (05/28/2014), he showed symptoms. We took him into Banfield, 7603 NE Vancouver Plaza Dr, 98662. Dr. Drennen prescribed an antibiotic, Clavamox. Clavamox in addition to the incompetencies of DVMs, Danielle Drennen and Kiera Kienle, caused our dog to be sentenced to death. Our dogs health decreased significantly everyday. We returned to Banfield every other day to see if there was anything we could do to improve our dogs health. When taking our dog in, I overheard the vet, Kienle, blatantly dismiss our dogs health while in the waiting room. We took our dog to Columbia River Veterinary Specialist (referred by Banfield) for another opinion (06/02/2014), they also sentenced him to death. Incompetent (Banfield and Columbia River Veterinary Specialist) because: they NEVER once considered that it was the medication they prescribed causing our dog's health to further decline. After Columbia River Veterinary Specialist recommended we put our dog down, we waited to break the news to our 9 year old the next day (and give her a chance to say "goodbye" to her new pup). On 06/03/2014 we took our dog out for a special outing, the ONLY reason our dog is ALIVE TODAY is because I stopped giving our dog Clavamox as he was sentenced to die, and it wasn't pleasant to force feed him his (death) pill. After being off the pill for a full 24 hours, he ate, he drank like madd! He had a fighting chance, we took him to St. Francis Animal Hospital, they prescribed a different medicine, and our dog improved. He got better. He is alive today and perfectly healthy. No thanks Banfield. You almost killed our dog. P.S. Now if only we could discontinue our contract with you... We are stuck paying this awful establishment monthly for a "wellness plan". Never again will we ask Banfield to assist in our dog's wellness.
The staff are very friendly, caring, and professional. The only negative thing I have experienced is that they sometimes get overbooked or behind which causes a long wait time to be helped at the front or to see the vet in a room. Overall I would recommend them (and have several times).
Banfield has lost my business forever. Dr Bachelor in particular is a completely worthless person pretending to be a vet.. I just hope someone reads this before ever considering giving Banfield Pet Hospital any business whatsoever. Unfortunately PETSMART will also lose my business due to their association with Banfield. In these days of poor economy you would think a longstanding customer would be treated with respect. People -read these reviews. There is a reason they have so many poor marks. Find a real vet for your loved animals, this is not the place.
I am considering canceling my dog's plans but have not done so because of their wonderful primary vet, Dr. Drennan.I enrolled my four small dogs in Banfield in order to have some control over expenses. Another reviewer mentioned the nickel and diming and that is exactly what they do. They always charge me for tests included in the dental package I pay for because my one of my dogs liver function tests is elevated. They can't do the dental so I get charged for the tests each time even though they are included. The staff seems to care for animals but the service and training is poor. Recently I made an appointment for one of my dogs with chronic health problems. When I arrived I was told I would be seeing another doctor and even though she was there, Dr Anderson refused to see my pet unless I left her (you guessed it.....another $35.00). I saw no reason to traumatize my dog by leaving her and she was not seen. Another huge problem is that they have no respect for people's time. You wait endlessly even though you have an appointment and medication is never ready even if you call a week ahead for refills. Very disappointing and frustrating.
