If you need a specialist or have an emergency, do not hesitate to go to CRVS. You are going to get what you pay for. CRVS is not inexpensive and their doctors and staff are not run-of-the-mill vets. These people are specialists. They run 24 hours a day, fully staffed and with expensive emergency and surgical equipment. Do you have any idea what that must cost? Yes, they want you to pay up front, because they want to keep the doors open for the next patient. My cat was hospitalized for about 24 hours receiving IVs, medication and constant watch. It was about $1500. Do you have any idea what that would have cost had I been hospitalized? You have to put things in perspective to understand. Some comments mention the lack of emotion of doctors and/or staff. They have to be this way to do their jobs. They see horrible things every day and you'd have to distance yourself emotionally or you wouldn't even be able to function. Just like people doctors. They really do care and will do absolutely anything they can to help your pet. Even though they can come off a little cold to people, I've never seen them handle an animal that way. They totally coddle them. We visited the ICU and the cages were filled with wonderful, homey blankets that were super soft. The cages were tagged with important medical warnings and everything was clearly labeled with each pet's name and information. There were monitors with audible warnings, just like a people hospital. CRVS does not mess around, they take their work very seriously. After seeing things like this, you start to understand why critical care costs so much. It's totally justified. This is not our first experience with CRVS. We had another sick kitty a couple years ago that required exploratory surgery. What they found could not be fixed and he had to be euthanized. I don't blame CRVS for this. We had to pay over $2000 and he never came home. There are no guarantees that they can save your pet, but I'm confident they will do everything they can to try.
Great people, great pet care and excellent communications with owners and other vets. I love my regular vet and she highly recommends the specialists here for surgical procedures to ensure the very best results. Their expertise is worth some additional cost. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for. Have been involved with two pet surgeries both with excellent outcomes.
They were very kind to both our 14 year old bulldog and to us. It was a sad night but I won't take our dogs anywhere else besides our regular vet.
My dog wouldn't be with me today without the skilled staff at CRVS. She needed an emergency surgery to have her gallbladder removed and Dr. Novu performed this surgery, and saved her life. She is an older lab mix, but acts like a teenager so I'm so thankful that Dr. Novu didn't give up on her. He called me before the surgery to explain the procedure and called me right after to let me know she was ok. He and is colleagues proceeded to call me daily the first week or so to see how she was doing. When I picked her up after her hospital stay the girl who went over the post op instructions with me was very patient and thorough. I was very impressed with the entire facility, and appreciate everything they did for my dog. Thank you Dr. Novu:)!!
Good: The surgeon was skilled and knowledgable. I trusted him with my pet. Bad: As a whole, the clinic seems more interested in marketing and profit than caring, customer support. I had to make numerous calls to get information and advice. Their prices were higher than for similar local services. They are not proactive about providing instructions or advice either before or after the surgery. I think the surgeons are first-class, but the general philosophy of the clinic is concerning. My normal vet will call to check up on my pet the day, even after a minor $40 visit. CRVS didn't call to check up on my pet after a major $4,000 surgery. I had to call them. 5 stars for the docs, 1 star for the clinic.
