We found this lovely place when our pup needed surgery for bladders stones. My dog's normal vet referred me to a clinic in Madison for the surgery, where the vets were impersonal and way overpriced. I can't say enough about the wonderful experience I had at this clinic with Dr. Gerber and his team. They really took time to answer all of my questions and put me at ease. It's been almost 2 months since my dog's surgery and he has long since fully recovered and is back to normal. Also, thanks to the diet they recommended to us, his recent followup showed no crystals or signs of stones left behind. It's worth the drive from Madison for service and price and I would recommend this place to anyone!

I have been going to CCVC for 8 years now, I believe. I moved to Sun Prairie and decided to stay with them anyway because of their friendly staff. I am deaf and it means a lot when people treat me well. Last week,I had to put my almost 18 years old cat down, Dr. Twardowski was amazing. She made sure Trey was comfortable and if I was ready. A week later, I got something from them in the mail. They made a card with Trey's pawprints on it. And they donated $50 to Abby's Fund in Trey's memory, and all the staff signed a sympathy card. It really touched my heart. It means a lot when someone recognized my love for Trey, I had him since he was 8 weeks old. We love you, CCVC!

I learned the hard way that this clinic doesn't like having their shortcomings tactfully pointed out. On one occasion, for example, the clinic refused to exchange (or allow me to return) an about-to-expire medication--assuring me that it would "probably" still be "good enough". On another occasion, I was instructed by Dr. Gerber that the other doctors don't like my asking "too many questions" nor do they like my respectfully requesting a second opinion--because it makes them feel I don't "trust" them. Recently, I got caught between two of their vets who each gave me different advice, and apparently--when I pointed this out--it was the law straw for them. Now, because of my "misbehavior" (even though I was never rude or disrespectful), I've been told not to ever come back. Dr. Gerber says he is even unwilling to treat one of my animals in a life-and-death emergency. And--while not technically illegal, not treating an animal in a life-and-death emergency is not in line with the AVMA's recommended Code of Ethics. I think the vets at this clinic have over-inflated egos and are not willing to work WITH a pet owner to determine the best course of action in any given medical situation. At least this has been MY experience. If you are an owner of a just one or two pets, you probably haven't done enough business with this clinic to notice the shortcomings that I have seen over the years. But because I run a dog rescue group, I have brought well over a hundred dogs to this clinic over the years, so I have seen a side of them that many people haven't seen. (Since I switched to a different clinic, I have discovered how much more confidence I have in a vet who doesn't feel "threatened" by a knowledegable client.) I--for one--would not recommend this practice unless you are a pet owner who always takes a vet's recommendation as God's Word, with no questions asked.
