My vet in is a nearby town but Crossraods carry diabetic food for my cat. (Specialty veterinarian food can ONLY be bought from a vet) However, their prices are high, the "ladies" in the office are not friendly. Their markups on pet food are high compared to other vets in the area. My friend used to take her cat there only to find out Dr. Guertz missed clues that the cat was suffering and never diagnosed the problem. A quick once over and vaccinations, now pay your bill. She has since changed vets and her cat is doing great. My vet has never been rough even with several of my antisocial animals. If your pet is like family I'd make darn sure you are comfortable with their care.
