I had a very similar experience to Sondra! I wanted to get a second opinion on my cat with ear pain. She scratched her ear a lot and cried whenever doing so. She also would shake her head a lot. I went to a vet and they told me that she had an ear infection, gave me meds and sent me off. I medicated her for two weeks (as told)…only to find out that the medication she was given did nothing. Overall, that vet visit cost about $50. I went to Countryside to get a second opinion from a different vet. Dr. Dibbern poked and prodded at my cat so much that my cat clung to me and would not let go of my neck. I have never seen her so scared. He also said that her ear pain was due to ear mites (figures) and proceeded to medicate her with golf ball size drops (he told me it was a pearl size…like the size you would see on a pearl necklace). He then medicated her with a single dosage of Revolution, even though I told him I just gave her the monthly dosage two days ago. He also said that the brand of food I gave her was horrible and that I shouldn’t trust brands that make their food outside of the U.S. The food I feed her, Authority, is made locally in Arizona. He also had me purchase two 1 inch bottles of medication ($50 each) to administer to my cat for three weeks. He told me to come in and purchase more medication as necessary, although one bottle wouldn’t have even been enough to administer his golf ball size drops for one dosage! Overall, my vet visit was over $120 (included: exam $40, re-administering a single dose of Revolution $20, and two bottles of medication $50 each). It was completely ridiculous. On top of that, he made me feel like the worst pet parent ever. I have worked with animals since the age of 13, so I know how to properly care for animals. My cat is happy as can be. I will never go back to this place again!! Also, he over charges for flea medication. The vet I usually go to gives you a 6 month supply for $80. They also give you 2 extra doses on top of that for free. Dr. Dibbern charges $110 for a 6 month supply and another $40 for a vet exam before being able to even purchase the medication!

Dr. And Mrs. Dibbern are wonderful people who genuinely care about the well-being and health of your pets. Dr. Dibbern keeps up-to-date with veterinary medical advances and research.

Cliff notes- Dr. Dibbern is about as unprofessional and arrogant as humanly possible. Overcharges, makes you feel like a bad pet owner pushes Hills Science Diet on you and gives your animal medication it does not need. Long version- I had an appointment yesterday to take my year and a half Rottweiler in for a routine check up. I adopted him from a friend about 8 months ago, right after he had been fully vetted- rabies, heart worm test and medication, front line- the whole nine. When I got to the office I had to wait a little, then I was taken back by a nice assistant. She was gentle and even gave my dog a treat. Then... she started asking me what brand of food I fed him, how often he ate, what brand of treats I fed him ect. She told me that they had to do a blood test for lyme disease and for heart worms before they would give me heart worm medication even though I had told them that he had not missed a dose.- ok fine I can deal with that she took blood from the dog and left the room. A few minutes later she comes back in asking specifically what brand of treats I was feeding him, I pulled it up on my phone for her, she left the room again. She opened the door and called me in to another room where I met the Vet, Dr. Dibbern. For 45 minutes he belittled me on my choice of dog food (Pedigree Large Breed) my choice of trests (Tractor Supply 4Health Joint Treats) - told me my dog was overweight (he's not) gave me a 15 minute monologue about how wonderful he is because Hills Science Diet chose him to help them develop their food products, after I told him twice I don't need to know every single detail about the food. Fished for information about what I did for a living and how much I made. Meanwhile his poor vet assistants were standing there waiting for him to shut up so they could give shots. He managed to get my dog to growl at him, which has NEVER happened. He vaccinated my dog for almost everything imaginable, including bordatella after I told him that he will never be going to a kennel. Gave the dog a flu shot after convincing me that if he got the flu he would die. Sold me an $80 27 lb bag of diet dog food and basically made me feel like the worst dog owner on the face of the planet. I am not a bad dog owner, my dog is part of the family, sleeps in bed and is spoiled rotten. This guy might know what he is talking about when it comes to vet medicine, but he is absolutely one of the most arrogant, abrasive, sarcastic, rude people I have ever met. I feel bad for his vet assistants and any future clients he may have. If you are smart enough to read this before going there cancel your appointment. Pick anywhere else. This guy is a complete jerk.

The staff and doctor are really great, they genuinely care and believe in what they are doing. I had my poor cat to a couple of vets about his ears over the past 3 years, each of them swearing he did not have ear mites and would give drops for an infection and send us home. These did nothing and finally this vet treated my cat properly; instead of swabbing he uses a camera to check for mites and can actually see what is going on and correctly identified the problem (mites, as I thought). That said, the doctor can be a bit condescending in his manner. I think he genuinely means to be helpful, and he explains things thoroughly and believes in giving the pet parent knowledge, but in doing so makes the assumption that the pet parent is an idiot which is quite offensive if you happen to be a person of mild intelligence or greater. The facility is an old house which has charm, but the overwhelming scent of urine as you walk in the door is a bit off-putting, not to mention that the screen door and the wood door have hinges on the opposite side which make it difficult to shuffle pet carriers inside, especially if the wind is whipping. Also, with my previous vets I was able to fill Rx's at my pharmacy so I could pick up the medication with my own, but they do not send Rx's to outside pharmacies so you must come in to get your pet's meds. Trivial things but they are annoying. BUT, this is a small price to pay for good care for your furry loved ones. I will continue to go here because, above all else, they give my pets the good care they need.

My visit to Countryside vet was the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with my dog. When I spoke with the doctor he gave me a LONG lecture on how I was wrong for not feeding my dog purina science diet or hills dog food. Conveniently, hills dog food is sold exclusivly at the office. This ended up being a half hour lecture. He asked me what kind of flea/tick medication I used on my dog. When I told the doctor that I did not want to buy the medication at the office the doctor told me that I was putting my dog's health at risk. He then proceeded to say that because I am in school and have a boyfriend, I don't pay attention to my dog. For an hour this man insulted me as a pet owner, and aggressively tried to sell me numerous products. After one visit I will never return.
