Absolutely one of the worst experiences of my life. After our puppy had a severe dog bite we needed to have her lacerations stitched and it happened to be on a Sunday. Closest place to our house was Animal ER of SW Florida. My girlfriend frantically drove the dog to the Animal ER of SW Florida soon after she got there I received a phone call telling me she is looking at a $2,200 bill that they gave to her after secluding her in a room and asking if she needed to find our puppy a new home. I then realized my girlfriend was being taken advantage of. Having owned dogs for over 41 years and seeing people stitch up their own dogs I knew what was going on before I even got there. I jumped in my car and ran right over to see if I could help out. After looking at the list of charges some undisclosed misc. fee’s I could not actually tell why they needed $2,200 dollars to stitch up some lacerations. The whole experience was like a high pressure sales tactic and I could tell they were praying on my girlfriends emotions. I asked them how much I actually owed them for what they had already done they answered with $87 and some talk about the price of the pain medication administered that she never said the price on. I confronted the doctor in the lobby I told her she looked like a sensible person and I wondered why she couldn’t help us out and stitch the dog up and maybe we could come up with a sensible solution. She then explained that emergency vet treatment is expensive and she could look through the bill but the bulk of it would remain. I said we are talking about $2,000 bucks for some stitches and antibiotics. I was simply taken back by the apathetic feeling in this staff. I was very upset and asked them to give me our dog. I went out to park my car in the front of the building and they had my puppy ready as I walked in. I left my girlfriend there to pay what we owed for the pain medicine administered and the exam fee as I went searching for another Emergency Vet. She later told me they charged her $245 with no itemized receipt and all was given was a credit slip. It was clear to us that money was first and they would not be happy with a regular profit. The whole process at an ER in Fort Myers was $750 that's with pain medication and antibiotics included. Our dog was treated with love and care and they were very professional.

Avoid going to this Emergency Clinic at all costs if you want to save your pet's life, as you could wind up paying a "resuscitation fee", for something they could deliberately do just to make more money. Do not trust these people!!!! No other Emergency Clinic asks you to sign something agreeing to a fee for resuscitating your pet should something go wrong. What they did to me and my cat was REPREHENSIBLE. Oh, there's so much to tell here. The female veterinarian with a foreign accent who has black hair and is of eastern (Indian or Pakistan?) descent is the one to be afraid of at this clinic, and the two blond women technicians were rude. These people left me for over 30 minutes while they pretended to "work up an estimate" while my pet's life was hanging in the balance. My cat was blocked and needed to pee immediately. The situation was life-threatening. I knew what was needed for him, as my cat had been through this before. This doctor began arguing with me that Feline Urinary Tract Disease had nothing to do with stress, when indeed in many cats it has very much to do with it. I told her my cat had a history of struvite crystals... and he was very stressed from the recent thunderstorms, and stress exacerbates his condition. But she was dead set on arguing that stress had nothing to do with it. This should have been my first clue that maybe she wasn't trained properly or missed something in vet school. But it gets much worse than her just not knowing these critical things about FLUTD, it was more about trying to extort money based on the love I had for my cat. It was around midnight and he needed to have his bladder emptied in order to buy time until I could get him to my regular vet the next morning. My cat and I were left hanging. Seems it was all a game to get the situation escalated to more of a crisis level than it already was...the old salesman trick of "make 'em wait"so that I would pay any amount put in front of me, just to save his life. I waited close to 30 minutes and I finally began throwing a fit. I opened the door to the back and she was talking on her cell phone, what appeared to be a personal call. The rude staff was no where to be found. They were not busy. I was the only customer in there at midnight, and I had called ahead to confirm whether they were busy or not. She quickly hung up and then came in to scold and lecture me on how they were working up an estimate and tried to cover for her actions by saying they had other patients. But it was a lie. Close to 30 minutes had passed... where was the estimate and why weren't they taking action on my cat??? Her lecturing went on for about 5 minutes and I told her in the time it took her to chastise me, I should have had the estimate in my hand, or a needle could have been inserted in my cat's bladder and emptied. The estimate finally came in at $1,600 -- when all I was asking for was the minimally life-saving procedure that should have been estimated at under $200. I pleaded for them to just clear the blockage so my cat could pee. She refused to help my cat unless I agreed to pay their estimate. The blond technician was also rude, as apparently they weren't used to people challenging them on their WAIT and emotional extortion tactics. I told them I was going to call the owner and the blond technician chased me out the door, waving the owner's phone number in the air at me, telling me to "please...call the owner". I told her I didn't want it, and I replied that I would just write a review instead and she replied "ewwwww"pretending to be afraid... which I felt was very immature. I drove across town with my cat to a totally different all-night clinic and they cleared his blockage for $200. Do not go to this clinic if you know what is best for your pet.

I cannot thank these guys enough! They took in my pit Wyatt who had a broken jaw. This kinda thing normally cost thousands of dollars in reconstructive surgery. The doctor was able to fix his mouth up with removing a peice of jaw and a few stitches. Doctor visit and surgery only cost me about $500. You cant get that kind of service anywhere else! Now Wyatt has never been better and you would never know his jaw had been broken. Thanks again guys!

I just read the most compelling post on Cafe_Cape_Coral of a woman that found a kitten that had been hit by a car and after over an hour of trying to find a 24 hr emergency vet that would help her she was directed to this location which treated her with compassion and never once asked her how she was going to pay. Due to the injuries of the little kitten it had to be put down but the compassion this location showed was second to none and no other location would touch the poor kitten covered in fire ants. This is the place to go in an Emergency. JOB WELL DONE ANIMAL ER OF SW FLORIDA.... JOB WELL DONE!

This is an amazing after hours/emergency hospital. The staff is great and very caring. Please note this is an emergency care facility.....so cost should be expected to be more than your regular veterinarian prices. Kinda like the hospital vs primary care doctor. So glad there's a place at night to take my pets.
